GENERAL
Mezzanine shall be a freestanding custom engineered system consisting of all
structural support, decking and fasteners to provide a complete system, to
include drawings and installation instructions, and shall be designed in
accordance with the latest national building code requirements for the area of
installation.
SCOPE OF WORK
Manufacturer shall have state of
the art software and engineering, and must have been in business for a minimum
of 12 years. Manufacturer shall have certified welders with continuous quality
assurance inspections by a certified welder.
BEAM TO BEAM CONNECTIONS
All beam to column connections shall be capable of transferring bending moments
and must be shown to have adequate capacity to insure structural stability
without base plate connection to the existing slab and without the use of
knee-braces. The beam to column connection shall by type 3 and consist of
structural tee sections and seated flange angles, factory welded to columns.
COLUMNS
All mezzanine columns shall be a minimum of 5” x 5” x 3/16” structural square
tube to assure consistent strength in both directions of the column. The base
plates shall be a minimum of 9” x 9” x 1/2” and shall allow for 4-anchor bolts
where possible.
BEAMS
The structural support beams shall be sized to satisfy the live load, dead load
and construction load re-quirements. The beams shall be designed to meet the
deflection criteria limitations of L/360 per national building codes for floor
members. All joist shall meet the standards of the steel joist institute.
HAND RAIL
Hand rails shall be modular by design and shall be panelized for ease of
installation and shall mount directly to columns where possible, rails shall be
designed as a minimum to meet OSHA specifications.
STAIRS
Stairs shall be assembled with treads factory welded to risers; stair hand rails
shall be one piece factory welded; stair base plates shall be pre-punched to
match pre-punched risers for easy bolt on connection; stair columns shall bolt
directly to stair with no drilling required; stair shall meet appropriate
building code and be of minimum design as to provide 100 psf live load and 300
lbs. point load.
DECKING
Sub deck shall be a minimum of 20 gauge B deck 1-1/2” with minimum yield
strength of 33,000 PSI, white underside to reflect lighting, finished floor 3/4”
Advantech with a manufacturers warranty of 50 years (see their warranty). All
other decking materials available.
HARDWARE
All threaded fasteners supplied with the mezzanine shall comply with A325 or
A490 structural fastener certifications.
PAINT FINISH
All mill run steel shall be chemically washed and etched with a biodegradable
chemical prior to painting; interior paint shall be industrial enamel; exterior
shall be epoxy. Other finishes available including G-90 galvanized.
